Community members and volunteers at Bloomfield United Church — serving Prince Edward County together

Our Community

We are neighbours, friends, and fellow travellers — rooted in Bloomfield and committed to the well-being of everyone who calls Prince Edward County home.

All Are Welcome Here — Without Exception

Bloomfield United Church is an open and affirming congregation. We welcome people of all backgrounds, beliefs, ethnicity, age, ability, sexual orientation, and gender identity. You do not need to have your theology sorted out, your faith settled, or your life perfectly ordered to be welcome here. We believe that every person carries the image of the divine, and every person deserves to belong to a caring, supportive community. That is who we are — and who we intend to keep becoming.

The Village of Bloomfield, Ontario

Bloomfield is a charming, historic village in the heart of Prince Edward County — one of Ontario's most beloved and vibrant rural communities. Nestled among rolling farmland, vineyards, and the shores of Lake Ontario, the County has long attracted artists, farmers, food artisans, and those seeking a slower, more connected pace of life.

With a population of approximately 1,000 residents in the village and a much larger seasonal and county-wide community, Bloomfield punches well above its weight in terms of cultural richness, local pride, and community spirit. Main Street is home to independent shops, galleries, and restaurants — a living testament to the entrepreneurial and creative energy of this place.

Bloomfield United Church has been at the heart of this community for more than 200 years. We are not just a building on Main Street — we are woven into the story of this village, sharing in its joys, its sorrows, its growth, and its future.

Our Community Partnerships

We believe that the church is strongest when it works alongside — not apart from — the wider community. We are actively building partnerships that serve the common good.

Bloomfield Area Business Association

We are proud partners of the Bloomfield Area Business Association. Together, we share the vision of a thriving, vibrant Main Street and a resilient village economy that works for all residents. Our partnership includes joint community events, shared advocacy for local priorities, and a commitment to the long-term vitality of Bloomfield as a unique and welcoming place to live, work, and visit.

Local Food Security Networks

Food insecurity is a reality for families across Prince Edward County, including right here in Bloomfield. We actively support the local food bank, organize donation drives, and provide volunteer hours through our outreach ministry. Our fellowship kitchen is also available to partner organizations in need of a space to prepare community meals.

Interfaith & Ecumenical Engagement

We believe that no single faith community holds the complete truth, and we are committed to building bridges across denominational and religious lines. We participate in ecumenical services with neighbouring congregations, join in community-wide Days of Prayer, and engage in respectful dialogue with people of all faiths. Unity in diversity is not a slogan for us — it is a practice.

Our Building Belongs to the Community

The doors of Bloomfield United Church are open — not just on Sunday mornings, but throughout the week. We believe our building is a community asset, and we make it available to groups, organizations, and individuals in the Bloomfield area for a wide range of purposes.

The fellowship hall and kitchen are well-suited for meetings, workshops, community dinners, rehearsals, and small gatherings. We work with local non-profit organizations, service clubs, and cultural groups to find mutually beneficial arrangements. If your group is seeking a welcoming, affordable, and well-maintained space, we invite you to reach out.
